When we decided to get a puppy, our lives changed forever. Not only physically – with chewed skirting boards and a decimated veggie patch – but its also changed us in subtle ways, we now run with a different pack. We instigate lengthy chats with complete strangers in the park, safe in the common ground of dog ownership. We’ve learnt new things; if crate-training were a topic on just a minute, we’d be able to talk for 60 seconds without so much of a whiff of hesitation, deviation and whatever the third one is. The point is having a dog, especially a puppy, is pretty big news for everyone involved and, as it turns out, its pretty interesting for those who aren’t. So I thought Id write about it.
